ABOUT US

Marketplace Meets Mission (M3) is a gathering of like minded followers of Jesus who desire to implement the charge given to a people who were living under tremendous pressure:

“Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile. Pray to The Lord on (the cityʼs) behalf, for in (the cityʼs) welfare, you shall have peace” (Jeremiah 29:7)

In understanding that the marketplace is made up of (at least) business, the government and education, M3 strives to engage a partnership between the marketplace and the congregations of the city and the region. We believe there is a vital relationship between the faith community and all of society, collaborating on solutions to the issues we all face in realizing a peaceful, vibrant society. We believe there should be a chance for all citizens to access the freedoms that God has designed for us.

PRINCIPLES

THE CALL

“Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile. Pray to The Lord on (the cityʼs) behalf, for in (the cityʼs) welfare, you shall have peace.” (Jeremiah 29:7)

THE MINISTRY

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

THE STEPS

This is the kind of fast day I’m after: to break the chains of injustice, get rid of exploitation in the workplacefree the oppressed, cancel debts.

What I’m interested in seeing you do is: sharing your food with the hungry, inviting the homeless poor into your homes, putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad, being available to your own families.

Do this and the lights will turn on, and your lives will turn around at once. Your righteousness will pave your way. The God of glory will secure your passage.

Then when you pray, God will answer. You’ll call out for help and I’ll say, ‘Here I am.’

“If you get rid of unfair practices, quit blaming victims, quit gossiping about other people’s sins, If you are generous with the hungry and start giving yourselves to the down-and-out,
Your lives will begin to glow in the darkness, your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight.
I will always show you where to go. I’ll give you a full life in the emptiest of places— firm muscles, strong bones. You’ll be like a well-watered garden, a gurgling spring that never runs dry.

You’ll use the old rubble of past lives to build anew, rebuild the foundations from out of your past. You’ll be known as those who can fix anything, restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate, make the community livable again."  (Isa 58:6-12, The Message)

Principles

Based on Isaiah 58:6-12

1. Prayer for the City

We will unite to pray for our cities; that love, honor and respect will unify the Body of Christ and mobilize the Church to bring love, reconciliation and healing to our communities. We will pray for our leaders that God has appointed and anointed to administer and bless the cities.

2. Give honor to the City

Show honor to the cities as we believe God has called us to seek the welfare of our cities, to take ownership of our communities and its problems, and to bring solutions that are supernatural and life changing. Above all, we will honor our leaders that God has called to lead the cities, encouraging righteous behavior and building unity between the Body of Christ and the communities where we live.

3. Be generous to the hungry and the down and out

God uses his followers to be the hands and the feet of Jesus through ministries that reach out to the poor, the outcast, the widows, the lonely, the sick, the downtrodden, the captured, families and communities. We believe God has prepared all followers in advance to do good works, not as a means of Salvation, but to Glorify the Father.

4. Equip leaders so they experience God through spiritual freedom and serve their community

Build up leaders in and out of the church as we recognize that all authority is given to and comes from Jesus Christ. All power is His and He is ruler over all authorities, power, kingdoms and principalities. Leaders are trained based on their heart to be a servant and their commitment to a “bottom-up” Kingdom, leadership that loves and serves others with a bowl and a towel.

5. Send out women and men, committing to their mission from God

Believing that God calls believers to grow into a pleasing, mature understanding of the Father, He also ordains and prepares His Body for service. He desires that all would stand firm in their faith, not be tossed to and fro from lies and misconceptions and as such, He has gifted each person with gifts that minister to His Body and to the communities in which we live.
